Student Juried Art Reception, Cardboard Fashion Show, Faculty Exhibit

Join us on Thursday, March 23, to celebrate the arts at Finlandia University. Finlandia Art Night will include three events: the 2023 Faculty Exhibit, a reception and awards presentation for the Finlandia Student Juried Art Exhibit and a cardboard fashion show by Finlandia art and design students.

FinnU Employee Career Fair is March 21

Finlandia University will be holding a career fair for FinnU employees and graduating seniors on Tuesday, March 21. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Paavo Nurmi Center Gymnasium. The confirmed list of the registered universities, colleges, and businesses is intended to be posted at www.finlandia.edu/careerfair by Monday, March 20.

Teach-Out & Transfer Fair for FinnU Students is March 20

Finlandia University students are invited to attend our Teach-Out & Transfer Fair coming up on Monday, March 20. The event will be held on-campus from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Paavo Nurmi Center Gymnasium. Over 20 colleges and universities will be in attendance. On Friday, March 17, information about attending colleges and universities and what they are offering will be updated at www.finlandia.edu/teachoutfair.

Board of Trustees vote to dissolve University, wind up affairs in orderly manner

Announced Tuesday, March 14, Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to dissolve the institution and wind up affairs in an orderly manner. The announcement follows news from March 2 that the institution would not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year.

TRIO Talent Search & Upward Bound programs intend to continue with scheduled programming

TRIO Pre-College Programs, hosted by Finlandia University, has announced intentions to move forward with scheduled programming and services in summer 2023 while it works with Finlandia leadership and the U.S. Department of Education to find a new host institution. TRIO Pre-College Programs, TRIO Talent Search & TRIO Upward Bound, are 100 percent federally grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan and Finlandia Foundation National, Inc. (FFN), based in Pasadena, California, announce intentions that aim to ensure the preservation of Finlandia University’s Finnish-American heritage and history.

Finlandia University will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year

On Thursday, March 2, Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees announced that Finlandia will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year. The decision follows months of continuous efforts to find pathways for the University to continue its mission.

Finlandia Associate Professor of Finnish & Nordic Studies Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen has been named co-editor of the Journal of Finnish Studies. Having worked on the journal’s editorial staff since 2009, Virtanen now shares co-editorship with renowned folklorist and scholar, Thomas A. DuBois.
