Position Summary:

The Director of Residence Life plays an essential role in creating a sense of belonging and community and advocating for and responding to the needs of all university students, including up to 180 residential undergraduates. This position oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the Office of Residence Life, including housing contracts, room assignments, oversight of a 180-bed residential facility, room, and board billing, and the training, selection, and supervision of six (6) resident assistants (RAs). In collaboration with the VP and Dean of Students, the Director provides leadership for the administration of the university conduct process, Clery reporting, and Title IX compliance. The Director engages in leadership practices that are collaborative, creative, and adaptive. Additionally, the Director provides support and services to the campus community with the understanding that the institution is committed to individual and holistic student success.

Essential Responsibilities:

Residence Life
1. Supervises all administrative processes, including but not limited to: contracts, room assignments, occupancy management, and the training and selection of student staff.
2. Responds to critical incidents on campus.
3. Serve as a university-level conduct hearing officer and provide leadership to the administration and adjudication of the Student Conduct process within Residence Life.
4. Maintains high visibility and engagement in the hall and with residents.
5. Regularly assess and evaluates opportunities to implement changes/updates to systems, policies, and services.
6. Manages Residence Life budget.

Student Engagement
1. Provides additional direction and oversight of areas including but not limited to: Student Clubs and Organizations and the Student Senate.
2. Work with campus partners to support major campus programs such as, but not limited to, New Student Orientation and Welcome Week.
3. Supports the development of robust campus events and activities calendar.
4. In partnership with the Director, outline a structure and process for the further growth and development of student clubs and organizations.

Required Qualifications:

1. A master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
2. A minimum of 3-5 years of proven effectiveness and progressive professional development in student life.
3. Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
4. Demonstrated computer and technological skills
5. Outstanding people, presentation, and communication skills.

1. A master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
2. 5-7 years of proven effectiveness and progressive professional development in student life services.
3. Demonstrated management and organizational skills.
4. Excellent counseling, problem-solving, and referral skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility to complete assigned tasks.
6. Experience working within a diverse setting with faculty, student affairs staff, students, and family members.
