Position Summary:

Finlandia University’s International School of Business, located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, is looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Management to join its faculty. The International School of Business offers a BBA with a focus on providing students with the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in today’s dynamic business world. Faculty provide experiential-based learning and personalized advising to guide the student on their path to graduation and beyond. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Management will teach courses in the Management & Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Management majors, as well as core business courses. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Management will advise Management & Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Management and other business majors and is expected to contribute to the growth of each program. Curriculum development, university service, professional development, and other duties may be as assigned in accordance with the faculty handbook. The position begins in August 2022.

Required Qualifications:

1. MBA or related degree with a concentration in Management or Administration. A degree or educational background in Healthcare Administration is a plus.
2. The ability to advise students on scheduling and other academic matters as well as assisting them in their career development
3. Knowledge of or experience with online instruction
4. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to successfully work in a team environment
5. Basic computer skills and the ability and willingness to utilize the university’s Learning Management System (LMS)
6. For appointment at the Associate Professor level, significant prior Management or Healthcare Management related teaching experience at a college or university with excellent teaching evaluations

Desired Qualifications:

1. An earned doctorate in Business or Healthcare Management
2. Experience teaching courses in general business, Management, and Healthcare Management/Administration
3. The willingness and ability to teach core business subjects including spreadsheet applications and business statistics is a plus
4. Professional certification in healthcare management or administration
5. Student advising experience at a college or university
6. Experience teaching online courses and familiarity with the online learning environments
7. The ability to integrate innovative educational approaches and techniques into the classroom environment
8. Experience working in a healthcare management position is a plus

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Teach assigned core business courses, Management and Healthcare Management courses in the ISB’s bachelor of business administration (BBA) degree program.
2. Advise Healthcare Management and other business students by providing high quality personalized academic guidance, motivation, and support for development of professional practice skills, and other assistance
3. Supervise Healthcare Management student capstones
4. Assist the ISB Dean in maintaining relationships with local, regional and international organizations in order to develop and promote academic collaborations including student projects, internships, placement opportunities and other mutually beneficial collaborations
5. Participate in evaluation and development of the BBA program curriculum
6. Oversee the development of an online BBA degree in Healthcare Management, and potential certificate programs
7. Perform various administrative duties as required or assigned
8. Participate in professional development and service activities
9. Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
10. Adhere to university policies and procedures and maintain and safeguard confidential data
11. Work professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
12. Support the institutional identity and mission of Finlandia University as “a learning community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and service”
13. Perform other duties as required, in accordance with the faculty handbook
