Finlandia Alumni Board seeking new members

The Finlandia Alumni Board (FAB) is accepting nominations for new members. Interested Suomi or Finlandia alumni can self-nominate here. Nominations will be accepted until June 1, 2021.

As an advisory group to the university, the mission of the FAB is “the promotion of the vision, mission, goals and programs of Finlandia University.” The goals of the FAB include:

• • Advising the President and Board of Trustees of the University with regard to the mission, vision and long range plans of the University in relation to the involvement of alumni in the life of the University
  • Providing national leadership for the Finlandia University Alumni Association
  • Promoting participation by alumni in the ongoing life of the university including participation in alumni activities, the curricular and co-curricular life of the university and off-campus activities sponsored by the University
  • Assisting and supporting university staff in the promotion of the University among alumni, prospective students and donors

Notable FAB projects include the creation of Finlandia Giving Day which raised almost $30,000 in 2020 for FinnU’s Safe Open and raised almost $10,000 in 2019 for the Alumni Association Textbook Awards that awarded 39 students a $250 North Wind Books gift card to be applied toward textbooks. In addition the group developed the Alumni Directory Map in 2018, and crowdfunded $45,000 to restore the Old Main roof in 2016-17. They meet monthly via phone conference and host an annual meeting each fall.
