TRIO Talent Search & Upward Bound programs intend to continue with scheduled programming

TRIO Pre-College Programs, hosted by Finlandia University, has announced intentions to move forward with scheduled programming and services in summer 2023 while it works with Finlandia leadership and the U.S. Department of Education to find a new host institution. TRIO Pre-College Programs, TRIO Talent Search & TRIO Upward Bound, are 100 percent federally grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Finlandia University will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year

On Thursday, March 2, Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees announced that Finlandia will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year. The decision follows months of continuous efforts to find pathways for the University to continue its mission.

Terri Olsen (’94, ’08) becomes new Director of TRIO Student Support Services

Terri Olsen (‘94, ‘08) has been named the new Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) at Finlandia University. A two-time graduate of the institution, Olsen attained an associate degree in business from Suomi College in 1994 and later, a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Finlandia in 2008.

TRIO Talent Search Program at Finlandia University awarded grant to help low income, potential first generation students access higher education

TRIO Talent Search will be provided five years of funding to help a minimum of 729 students from 15 schools in the Western Upper Peninsula find their path to college.

Michigan TRIO Professional Organization Celebrates 50 years

Finlandia University TRIO Pre-College and Student Support Services staff recently participated in the Michigan College Access Programs and Personnel Annual Professional Conference spanning two full days and delivered in a virtual format on May 17 and 18, 2021. The 50th anniversary of the state TRIO organization makes it one of the first state TRIO chapters in the country to charter a formal chapter.

TRIO Pre-College Programs, hosted by Finlandia University, was selected to participate in the STEAM National Saturday Academy pilot program in Spring 2021. TRIO Talent Search Meets APR Objectives

TRIO Talent Search at Finlandia University met 100 percent of their Annual Performance Report objectives, set by the U.S. Department of Education, for the 2019-2020 academic year. Each year, TRIO programs must complete an Annual Performance Report (APR) to assess the grantee’s progress in meeting its approved goals and objectives and to determine a grantee’s prior experience (PE) points in accordance with the program regulations.
