Everything you need to know about Parade of Nations 2022

Ever had Indian food? How about African? Bangladeshi? You can taste all those cuisines and more at this year’s Parade of Nations on Saturday, September 17.

The Parade of Nations starts at 11 a.m. at Quincy Green in Hancock. Floats and marchers with flags and banners will walk east down Quincy Street, cross the Portage Lift Bridge, then proceed east down Shelden Avenue through downtown Houghton. The Riku Scholarship is officially back, and two lucky students have the opportunity to seek out a $1,000 scholarship to don the “mane” during the Fall 2022 semester.

Dr. Richard Gee earns 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award

Dr. Richard Gee joined Finlandia’s Suomi College of Arts & Sciences in 2012 when he was brought on to develop the University’s Criminal Justice curriculum. After revising, creating and teaching more than 30 different courses and establishing multiple articulation agreements for continued learning, Gee was honored at this year’s spring commencement with the 2022 Board of Trustees Distinguished Faculty Award.

Students encouraged to apply for $250 textbook awards

Finlandia students who are enrolled for Fall 2022 are encouraged to apply for a $250 Alumni Board Textbook Award. The Award, given in the form of a Textbook Voucher redeemable at North Wind Books, is open to all students who meet the following criteria:

Enrolled full-time for Fall 2022 In good academic standing Degree-seeking

The free application will be open until Friday, July 22 and recipients will be notified prior to the start of the semester.

Giving Day 2022 starts now!

Join the Finlandia Alumni Board for a day dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and is looking to share this message to support their cause. Support student textbook awards on June 14

Giving Day 2022 is one week away!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting its fourth Giving Day on June 14, 2022. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks.

In 2021, the FAB helped 49 students with their textbooks and was able to help fund two student support initiatives by donating to Finlandia’s Textbook Justice Library and North Wind Books. 124 honored on Spring 2022 Dean’s and Honors List

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2022 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 124 students earned honors, including 88 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749. Finlandia University was recently named among the best for bachelor’s degrees in the State of Michigan in 2022 by University Headquarters.

Among the most important factors in the ranking system of University HQ is accreditation and the Higher Learning Commission provides that to Finlandia University with institutional accreditation.
