Students Encouraged To Grow Entrepreneurial Skills with the SmartZone SmartStart Program

 

Students at Finlandia University with a business idea are highly encouraged to apply for the free MTEC SmartStart SmartZone program to develop essential entrepreneurial skills. The SmartZone’s approach is designed to educate and guide entrepreneurs through the process of validating and growing their idea. Area High School Students Experience Business Day at Finlandia

FinnU Business Professionals of America to Host Business Day event for local students

The Finlandia Business Professionals of America (BPA) is inviting all local high school and college students to attend its Business Day event on Thursday February 13 from 10am-2pm at the Finnish American Heritage Center.

Business Students Practice Networking Skills with Local Business Professionals

On Thursday, November 21, first-year business students participated in a networking workshop with local business people and other working professionals. The event was part of assistant professor of sports management Steve Nordstrom’s BUS 138 Fundamentals of Business course.  The purpose of the exercise was to allow students to practice their networking skills and to learn to communicate and converse with business professionals.

Sports management alum takes job with AHL’s Wild

Jason Aldrich (’11) was recently introduced as Equipment Manager and Strength Coach of the American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild, minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild. Aldrich is a 2011 graduate of Finlandia’s Sports Management program, and played for FinnU’s NCAA Division III hockey program.

Finlandia business graduates experiencing job market success

Kirsten Berg, an accounting major from Hancock, is looking forward to completing her BBA this fall semester. Although she is still busy finishing her courses, she has already found employment with the Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union in Houghton. Kirsten has accepted a job as an accountant and will be following a career path to transition into the Manager of Accounting and Finance for the MTEFCU.
