Finlandia Alumni Board to host Giving Day for student textbooks on June 14

The Finlandia Alumni Board will host its fourth annual Giving Day on June 14 this year. Dedicated to helping students pay for textbooks, the Alumni Board’s annual fundraiser supports FinnU students through the way of textbook awards. Giving Day is a day to celebrate all things Finlandia and show the world the opportunities it affords its alumni, family and friends.

North Wind Books to celebrate 30th Anniversary with sales on Dec. 2 & 3

On the shores of Lake Superior in 1991, Patricia Van Pelt opened the Museum Shop at The Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.  Patricia’s shop would eventually outgrow the building space.  She would relocate the shop to her home in Eagle Harbor and rename it North Wind Books.

North Wind Books at Finlandia University will be hosting Angeline Boulley, author of New York Times Bestseller “Firekeeper’s Daughter”, for an author presentation and book signing on Thursday, September 30 starting at 3 p.m.

Finlandia Alumni Board raises $15,000 for student textbooks

The Finlandia Alumni Board (FAB) started Giving Day in 2019 determined to give back to current students in the way of textbook awards. Recipients receive a gift certificate to North Wind Books in the amount of $250 to help offset the rising cost of textbooks. 35 students received textbook awards in 2019, with almost $9,000 raised. Marie Bonenfant Moves Back to Financial Aid

Marie Bonenfant (‘13) recently moved back to the Financial Aid office of Finlandia University as a Financial Aid Counselor.

She worked in the Financial Aid Office previously, then moved over to North Wind Books for a short time, but is now working as a Financial Aid Counselor once again.

Bonenfant grew up in the area and graduated from Finlandia in 2013 with a Bachelors in Psychology with a Criminal Justice [...]
