“Love Your Library” Valentine’s Day drawing at Maki Library

Show some love for your library and help us brighten the Sulo and Aileen Maki Library’s spaces with color. The staff at the Maki Library welcomes you to participate in their “Love Your Library” drawing.

Hours for Maki Library during 2016 Thanksgiving Break

The Maki Library will be open limited hours during the week of Thanksgiving. Below the hours are listed, and you can also find them anytime by visiting finlandia.edu/library.

2016 Thanksgiving Week Library Hours Monday & Tuesday – 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday & Friday – Closed Saturday – 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday – 3 to 11 p.m.

Maki Library hosting Publishing Rocks! Reception

Finlandia employees, students and community members are invited to attend the Publishing Rocks! Reception to celebrate faculty and Dr. Ralph Pifer on Wednesday, October 19 at 6 p.m. at Maki Library.

The event will celebrate 120 years of Finlandia University faculty publications and 14 years of donations from Dr. Pifer.

Highlights of the event will include introduction of new publications from currenty faculty, as well as a new collection of geological and fossil specimens and archaeological artifacts from Dr. Pifer.

Maki Library update heading into 2016-17

The Sulo and Aileen Maki Library has new hours of operation for the 2016-17 academic year.

Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The library will be open the weekend before Labor day, with Sunday hours being 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tutors will be available in the library from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Regan Antila will be tutoring on Tuesdays for English and psychology.

Danez Smith to be featured during 2016-17 Campus Read

Up-and-coming poet Danez Smith will be the featured artist for the 2016-17 Finlandia University Campus Read.

Finlandia named among Great Small Colleges for Book Lovers

Finlandia University has been named one of 30 Great Small Colleges for Book Lovers by About Great Books. The article was published on the organization’s website in May.

The colleges on this list were chosen for reasons including their extraordinary libraries or other resources for book lovers, their unique dedication to the “great books,” or because they are home to a highly sought-after English and literature department.

The Finlandia University Marketing and Communications Department is proud to announce the launch of a new website. The website went live Thursday, June 2 at finlandia.edu.

Maki Library releases January 2015 New Book List

The Sulo & Aileen Maki Library has released its New Book List for December 2014 / January 2015. The list is available in the library’s newsletter (link below), and includes more than three dozen new books and resources available at the library.
