First Destination Outcomes for the Class of 2022

Finlandia University’s Class of ’22 graduates are off to a great start! The Seaton Center for Vocation & Career has completed its inaugural First Destination Survey, a new tool to collect and summarize data on graduate employment outcomes and continuing education enrollment.

Dr. Richard Gee earns 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award

Dr. Richard Gee joined Finlandia’s Suomi College of Arts & Sciences in 2012 when he was brought on to develop the University’s Criminal Justice curriculum. After revising, creating and teaching more than 30 different courses and establishing multiple articulation agreements for continued learning, Gee was honored at this year’s spring commencement with the 2022 Board of Trustees Distinguished Faculty Award.

Finlandia honors graduating Class of 2022

On Sunday, May 1, Finlandia University held its annual Spring Commencement Ceremony honoring 84 graduates in the Class of 2022. There was standing room only in the Hirvonen Hall Auditorium with more than 700 in attendance.

In his greeting, President Johnson opened with Finlandia’s Land Acknowledgment:

Irina Sergeyeva Named 2021 Board of Trustees Rising Star Faculty Award Recipient

The Board of Trustees honored Irina Sergeyeva with the 2021 Rising Star Faculty Award at Finlandia’s Spring Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, April 29. 

Sergeyeva serves as Finlandia’s RN to BSN Program Coordinator and now Associate Professor of Nursing. She joined the university in August 2015 with a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix.

In a normal year, Finlandia’s Academic Achievement Committee hosts the Honors & Awards Banquet for students who have been selected to receive endowed scholarships and honors. Thursday, April 29, 2021 marked a historic day in the timeline of Finlandia University. Finlandia’s Baccalaureate and Commencement are this week on Thursday, April 29. Due to COVID-19, the traditional graduation plans were shaken up. Here’s a complete run-down of when and where everything is happening.
