Learn all about Fall 2020 with FinnU’s New Fall 2020 Web Pages

Finlandia is excited to launch its new Fall 2020 web pages just in time for the new semester. Students, employees and community members can conveniently find information as it pertains to their group on the new pages. In addition, there is a new Covid FAQ page that includes information on FinnU’s Covid-19 case count, testing, quarantining procedures, contact tracing and prevention measures.

All students required to complete Daily Covid-19 Symptom Tracker beginning Aug. 6

In an effort to keep the campus community safe, all Finlandia University students will be required to complete the Daily Covid-19 Symptom Tracker Survey beginning August 6. The survey will be emailed to all students daily at midnight and takes approximately 1 minute to complete. Governor Whitmer issued the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order this morning, March 23, to temporarily suspend activities that are not necessary to sustain or protect lives.

With that, the Department of Homeland Security guidance for “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce” includes: “Educators supporting public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and universities for purposes of facilitating distance learning or performing other essential functions, if operating under rules for social distancing.”

Brandon Bell Hired as New Director of Campus Safety & Security

Brandon Bell joined Finlandia University’s Campus Safety and Security this past February as the new director. He will be joining the Finlandia staff with 13 years of service with the United States Air Force. His most recent position includes supporting the MQ-9 Reaper Remotely Piloted Aircraft as a meteorologist for the Arizona Air National Guard.

FinnU Receives $47,589 Grant for Campus Security Technology

Finlandia University has received $47,589 from the Michigan Department of State Police and Michigan’s Campus Sexual Assault Grant Program reimbursement grant initiative towards campus security geared toward sexual assault prevention technology upgrades. The University will use these funds to add a new camera security system as well as an RFID card access system and enhance campus LED lighting in Finlandia Hall.
