Pinnow’s presidency begins

The 17th President of Finlandia University, Tim Pinnow, has spent his first two weeks in office focusing on the things that matter the most – community.

Weathers (‘83) joins Board of Trustees

Michael Weathers (‘83) of Jacksonville, Fla. has joined Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees after being sworn in at the Board’s May 2022 meeting.

Weathers is the finance & legal manager of the firm Bankruptcy Auto Advisors, LLC in Jacksonville. Finlandia to host grand opening of Hirvonen Hall July 23

Finlandia University is pleased to announce that it will host a grand opening of Hirvonen Hall on Saturday, July 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Now home to Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences programs, the iconic former Hancock Public Schools building also serves as the location of the Finlandia Lions Esports Arena, in addition to multiple local businesses situated on the fourth floor.

Dr. Richard Gee earns 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award

Dr. Richard Gee joined Finlandia’s Suomi College of Arts & Sciences in 2012 when he was brought on to develop the University’s Criminal Justice curriculum. After revising, creating and teaching more than 30 different courses and establishing multiple articulation agreements for continued learning, Gee was honored at this year’s spring commencement with the 2022 Board of Trustees Distinguished Faculty Award.

Textbook Giving Day 2022 is today!

Giving Day 2022 starts now!

Join the Finlandia Alumni Board for a day dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and is looking to share this message to support their cause. Student application now open for $250 textbook awards

Finlandia students who are enrolled for Fall 2022 are encouraged to apply for a $250 Alumni Board Textbook Award. The Award, given in the form of a Textbook Voucher redeemable at North Wind Books, is open to all students who meet the following criteria:

Enrolled full-time for Fall 2022 In good academic standing Degree-seeking

The free application will be open until Friday, July 22 and recipients will be notified prior to the start of the semester.

Support student textbook awards on June 14

Giving Day 2022 is one week away!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting its fourth Giving Day on June 14, 2022. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks.

In 2021, the FAB helped 49 students with their textbooks and was able to help fund two student support initiatives by donating to Finlandia’s Textbook Justice Library and North Wind Books. Finlandia University names Tim Pinnow as next president

Finlandia University has elected Tim Pinnow, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), as its 17th president following a unanimous vote by the University’s Board of Trustees. He will assume his presidency on July 1, 2022.
