Student PTA Club invites you to Massage by Donation April 11

The Finlandia University Student PTA Club will host its second annual Massage by Donation event on Tuesday, April 11. The event is an opportunity for PTA students to use their newly learned skills and raise money for a charitable cause. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated by the club, which has given generously to charitable programs such as Bay Cliff Health Camp, Shoes4Kids and Omega House over the past year.

Alma College announces full tuition scholarship for FinnU students

Alma College has committed to helping Finlandia University students continue their education through the creation of a full tuition scholarship. The Alma-Finlandia Bridge Scholarship will cover full tuition and fees for eligible FinnU students and is renewable for up to three years or until the student graduates.

Eligible criteria for the Alma-Finlandia Bridge Scholarship include the following:

FinnU finalizes Teach-Out Agreement with NWTC for PTA & Pre-PTA students

Finlandia University has finalized a Teach-Out Agreement with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, Wisc. that will apply to PTA and Pre-PTA students at FinnU. Non-PTA or non-Pre-PTA majors applying for admission to NWTC will be considered transfer students.

Founded in 1912, NWTC is a nationally-recognized, two-year public college serving nearly 20,000 individuals annually. Focused on student success and the economic vitality of its communities, NWTC transforms, strengthens, and inspires the people of northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

FinnU to host blood drive April 3 at Chapel of St. Matthew

Do your part to help save lives!

Hosted by Finlandia’s Student Nurses Association and the UP Regional Blood Center, a community blood drive will be held on Monday, April 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew in Hancock. Donors will go to the Chapel’s lower level to complete paperwork and check vital signs before giving blood.

Student Nurses Association hosting April 1 pancake breakfast benefit for Omega House

On Saturday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Finlandia University Student Nurses Association will hold its annual pancake breakfast at Gloria Dei Church in Hancock. All proceeds from the event will benefit Omega House, a local hospice house in Houghton.

Tickets will be available upon arrival for a $5 donation per person. Dine-in or take-out is available.

The artist reception for Finlandia University’s 2023 International School of Art & Design Faculty Exhibit has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 23. The event will coincide with Finlandia Art Night and will include the 2023 Faculty Exhibit, a reception and awards presentation for the Finlandia Student Juried Art Exhibit and a cardboard fashion show by Finlandia art and design students.

Classes canceled March 17 due to inclement weather

Due to inclement weather, Finlandia University will be closed Friday, March 17, and no classes (in-person and remote) will be held. Only personnel who provide essential services to students should report to campus/work. The Maki Library and Paavo Nurmi Fitness Center will also be closed.

Board of Trustees vote to dissolve University, wind up affairs in orderly manner

Announced Tuesday, March 14, Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to dissolve the institution and wind up affairs in an orderly manner. The announcement follows news from March 2 that the institution would not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year.

TRIO Talent Search & Upward Bound programs intend to continue with scheduled programming

TRIO Pre-College Programs, hosted by Finlandia University, has announced intentions to move forward with scheduled programming and services in summer 2023 while it works with Finlandia leadership and the U.S. Department of Education to find a new host institution. TRIO Pre-College Programs, TRIO Talent Search & TRIO Upward Bound, are 100 percent federally grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
