Folk School hosting Saturday, Jan. 29 concert & workshop

Tickets are still available for Laurel Premo’s workshop and concert this weekend, January 29th at the Finnish American Heritage Center. Premo will be teaching a Finnish tune workshop for all instruments from 2-4 p.m. and then performing a concert at 7 p.m. This workshop and concert are made possible by generous funding from the American Scandinavian Foundation.

On-campus student, employee vaccine clinic Thursday, Jan. 27

Sponsored by Western Upper Peninsula Health Department (WUPHD), Finlandia Nursing will be hosting a free on-campus COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m located in the Hirvonen Hall gymnasium. FinnU students and employees will be able to receive a Moderna vaccine, which can be used as a Pfizer booster, or a one-shot J&J vaccine.

Finnish American Folk School to host musician Laurel Premo

HANCOCK, MI — The Finnish American Folk School at Finlandia will host internationally-renowned roots musician Laurel Premo on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock. Premo, a UP-native, will teach and perform to kick off a new year of programming at the Folk School.

The Finlandia University Board of Trustees has made significant advancements in the search for Finlandia’s next president, announcing the establishment of the Presidential Search Committee and selection of a national executive search firm. On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the Finlandia University Gallery held a virtual reception of the 31st Annual Contemporary Finnish American Artist Series Exhibition featuring the artwork of Natalie Salminen Rude. The exhibit is open to the public until Feb. 4.
