Nordic Film Series wraps season with Norwegian movie

A Norwegian movie based on a famous novel concludes the 2015-16 season for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC).

“Victoria” will show at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 in the Martha Wiljanen Community Hall of the FAHC.

Writers of the Northern Persuasion Author Forum

The eighth annual Finlandia University Campus Read concludes Saturday with the inaugural Writers of the Northern Persuasion author forum. The forum is free, open to the public and family friendly. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center on Quincy Street in Hancock.

Schmidt to be ordained Sunday in Escanaba

Campus community is invited to attend the celebration

Finlandia University Campus Pastor Soren Schmidt will soon be Rev. Soren Schmidt, Campus Pastor as he goes through the final steps of his calling to become ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Schmidt will be ordained Sunday at 3 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Anyone interested in attending is invited. Below is information Soren has provided on the calling:

Summer program accepting applications until April 30

A unique partnership between Finlandia University and JAMK University in Jyväskylä, Finlandia offers Finlandia students a 50 percent discount on tuition during the summer 2016 semester.

Finlandia University adds degree in Marketing and Graphic Design

The Finlandia University Board of Directors approved a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Graphic Design. The new academic program was created collaboratively between faculty in the university’s International School of Business (ISB) and International School of Art & Design (ISAD). It will begin accepting students immediately.

Monday night 10 Finlandia University students were inducted as charter members of the Finlandia University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) during the school’s formal installation of the new program.
