Register on time, and you could win $50 at North Wind Books

Registration opens Monday

All returning students who are registered for classes for the spring semester by Wednesday, November 14 at 4:30 p.m. will be entered into a drawing for one of three $50 gift cards to North Wind Books. Registration begins Monday for students with 60 or more credits, Tuesday for students with 30 or more credits and for all students Wednesday morning.

Students will be automatically entered into the raffle.

FinnU’s Honor Society earns 2018 Gold Award

Finlandia University’s chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta earned the 2018 Gold Award after increasing in size by 56 percent during the 2017-18 academic year.

SNA hosting Blood Drive on Thursday

Finlandia University’s Student Nurses Association is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, November 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. in Mannerheim Central. No pre-registration is required and all blood types are being accepted.

The blood drive is being put on in conjunction with the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center. Donated blood helps save lives throughout the U.P. There is currently a critical need for A-negative and O-negative.

City of Hancock winter parking ordinance now in effect

The City of Hancock’s winter parking ordinance went into effect on Thursday, November 1 and will be in place through April 30, 2019.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to stop, stand or park a vehicle, or to cause or permit a vehicle to be parked or left unattended between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on any day on any of the streets or highways of the City of Hancock during the period of November 1 through April 30.

Swedish comedy is November’s Nordic Film Series selection

A delightful tale about an older man with a less-than-delightful personality is the November selection for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center.

Setting school history this week, Finlandia is hosting the American Collegiate Athletic Association’s men’s and women’s soccer conference tournament. Financial Aid moves to Old Main

Financial Aid at Finlandia University has made the move from the Jutila Center to Old Main. Financial Aid staff can now be found on the west side of the main floor of Finlandia’s original building. Convenient and free parking is available in the lot behind the building. All e-mail addresses, fax numbers and phone numbers associated with Financial Aid remain the same.

Boat building open house set for November 1
