Finlandia Recognized as One of the Best Christian Schools for Psych Majors

Finlandia University has been named one of the 2019 Best Christian Schools for Psychology Students by Psychology Degree Guide.

Third Session of Adulting 101 to Take Place on April 16

The third session of Adulting 101 will take place April 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.  at  the Chapel of St. Matthew.

This session will host three speakers. Accounting professor Laura Sieders will discuss the importance of budgeting and how to be a smart investor. How to navigate student loans will be presented by Director of Student Financial Services Sandy Turnquist. Finally, Human Resource Manager Alyson DeLandsheer will explain work benefits and what they mean.

Blast from the Past with Suomi College Alum, Detective Clem Papineau

Suomi College alum, Clem Papineau visited Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about his time in the Keweenaw.

Originally from Ontonagon, Papineau initially planned on going to Michigan State University. Papineau was approached by Suomi’s basketball coach at the time to play basketball. After looking into the school, Papineau said he was instantly hooked. Papineau ended up attending Suomi, but did not end up playing basketball.

International School of Business has a New Educational Partner

Finlandia University’s International School of Business is now a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Educational Partner School. CGBP is overseen by the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE), a leading authority and industry standard for global business, education, trade credentialing, training and practice.

It’s Back! The Annual Diversity Dinner is April 23

One of Finlandia University’s most loved events is officially on the books for 2019. The Diversity Dinner is set to be held Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Finlandia Hall Café.

Mexican Puerto Rican Soul Food Finnish Cajun Vietnamese

The event is free for Finlandia students and $10 for the public. Come taste food from around the world as FinnU students cook food from countries of their national origin.

Laura Bianucci (‘13) to be Next “A Taste of Success” Presentation

Alumna Laura Bianucci is set to present on the topic of networking at the next A Taste of Success on Tuesday, April 16 in Mannerheim Central from 12 to 1 p.m.

Bianucci is a 2013 graduate of FinnU’s marketing program. She has held a few positions since graduation, but currently works as a recruiter for the Advanced Welding Institute in Eagle River, Wis. Bianucci is also a member of the Finlandia Alumni Board.

Blood Drive Hosted by SNA on April 17

Finlandia University’s Student Nurses’ Association is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, April 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. in front of Finlandia Hall. No pre-registration is required and all blood types are being accepted.

The blood drive is being put on in conjunction with the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center. Donated blood helps save lives throughout the U.P. There is currently a critical need for A-negative and O-negative.

Those interested in donating are encouraged to prepare by:

Finnish American Reporter Welcomes New Intern Olli Romppanen

There is a new face at the Finnish American Reporter (FAR) this summer, Finnish intern Olli Romppanen. Romppanen arrived in mid-March and will be staying until September.

Coming from Joensuu, a town in North Karelia, Romppanen has degrees in education, art and design, and most recently social science. This week junior Lindsey Johnson dropped by Finlandia Fridays to talk about her active presence on campus. Coming from Atlantic Mine, Johnson is studying management and entrepreneurship.
