Wear Denim on R.A.I.N.N. Day to Support Sexual Assault Survivors

Wear denim on R.A.I.N.N. day, Thursday, September 21 to show support for survivors of sexual assault. In conjunction, campus clubs will host activities at Finlandia Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the It’s On Us event series.

Two U.P. students win 2017 Brule Scholarship

$20,000 scholarship for art students earned by local students

Finlandia’s Medical Assistant program receives continued accreditation

This summer the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) informed Finlandia University of its vote to award continuing accreditation to the university’s Medical Assisting Associate Degree program.

“The commission commends you and your colleagues for your commitment to continuous quality improvement in education, as demonstrated by your participation in program accreditation,” President of the CAAHEP Carolyn O’Daniel, EdD, RRT said in a letter.

Finlandia University begins its 120th year

Finlandia University is alive with the buzz of students once again as classes for the Fall 2017 semester begin this morning. Last night students, faculty, staff and local alumni came together for the opening convocation.

“The convocation ceremony was a great start to the new year,” Campus Pastor Soren Schmidt said. “Between that and the fun that was had at our New Student Orientation, you can feel incredible energy around the university.”

Opening Convocation begins Sunday at 4 p.m.

It was the year 1897 when Suomi College and Theological Seminary welcomed its inaugural class of students. This coming Monday, August 28, therefore, marks the start of Finlandia’s 120th academic year. On Sunday we will celebrate our 120th with a gathering, a Finlandia-esque convocation.
