Community invited to Finlandia Homecoming Parade Oct. 6

Finlandia University will be hosting its Bleed Blue Homecoming Parade Saturday Oct. 6 at 11am. The parade will go from Quincy Green beside the Finnish American Heritage Center to McAfee Field to cheer on the Finlandia Lions football program as it takes on Kalamazoo. The parade will feature current students, alumni, faculty, staff and several of Finlandia’s athletic programs. 2018 Alumni Engagement Survey now open to Finlandia/Suomi alumni

Finlandia University and the Finlandia Alumni Board are seeking responses for their annual Alumni Engagement Survey.

The survey is open to all Finlandia and Suomi alumni, takes approximately five minutes to complete and will be available until September 24. Those who do fill out the survey can be entered into a drawing for a $25 North Wind Books gift card. Alumni Update: Alissa Pietila (’14) heads new broadcast segment at TV6

Alissa Pietila never thought she’d be working for a television station, let alone leading her own segment on the five o’clock news.

Pietila, a 2014 Finlandia University alumna, graduated with a bachelor’s in communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in psychology. Get in the Delorean, We’re Going to the Past

This year Student Senate Vice President, Kaylor Holmstrom, was inspired to visit Finlandia’s past by way of some old photographs.

“Going through the pages and viewing locations that I recognized, inspired me to reenact some of the photos in those same locations around campus with some of our current students,” said Holmstrom.

The Copper Country Community Arts Center is hosting a Coffee Talk with Finlandia University alumna and artist Pamela Kotilla on Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kotilla, a comic creator and artist will share her personal experiences with crowdfunding and self-publishing. She will focus heavily how to launch a Kickstarter campaign, find a printer and prepare work for print.
