Growth at Finlandia, largest incoming class in five years

This fall, Finlandia University’s overall enrollment grew by six percent with the on-campus student population increasing by nine percent. This full-time-equivalent growth brought 25 more students to campus than in fall 2020, giving Finlandia an enrollment of 430. The fall 2021 incoming class is the largest since 2016 with Finlandia’s International School of Business realizing an all-time high of 137 degree-seeking majors. International School of Business hires new Assistant Professor of Management

Beth Agen recently joined Finlandia’s International School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Management.

Agen attained a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communications from St. Norbert College, an MBA with a concentration in Leadership from Liberty University and is currently completing her doctoral thesis for a Doctorate of Education, EdD, in Organizational Leadership: Organizational Development, from Grand Grand Canyon University. Finlandia hires new Assistant Professor of Nursing

Aliina Radcliff has joined Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. Radcliff has a strong background in the field with 36 years of nursing experience, the majority of that experience in the operating room and preoperative services.

Finlandia hires new PTA Program Director

Finlandia University has recently hired Melanie Thurmond as its College of Health Sciences Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Director and Assistant Instructor.

Thurmond (’06) attained an associate’s degree from Finlandia’s PTA program and a bachelor’s degree from DeVry University in Finance. In addition, Thurmond holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay, an opportunity provided by Finlandia’s graduate pathway toward the DPT program. Finlandia Earns Academic Honors

Finlandia University was well represented on the 2020-21 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) All-Academic team.  A total of 34 Lions were on the list.

The criteria for the team was being a member of a C2C championship sport and having a 3.20 G.P.A. or higher for the 2020-21 academic year earn a spot on the All-Academic team. A total of 53.4% of C2C student-athletes posted a 3.20 GPA this year (1,329 of 2,490).

Finlandia, NMU Discuss Partnership Opportunities

HANCOCK, Mich. – Two Upper Peninsula of Michigan universities, Finlandia University in Hancock and Northern Michigan University in Marquette, have launched a joint initiative to explore high-level collaborations between the schools.

NMU President Fritz Erickson and FinnU President Philip Johnson, in conjunction with their respective governing boards, are announcing that the two institutions have created a task force to develop proposals for possible partnerships and collaborations of programs, university operations and student opportunities.

Finlandia Alumni Board hosting Giving Day 2021 to raise money for textbook awards

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting their third Giving Day on June 16, 2021. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks and will feature Facebook and social media announcements, information on textbook costs, and conversations with past textbook award winners and FAB members!

106 named to FinnU Dean’s & Honors List for Spring 2021

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2021 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 106 students earned honors, including 79 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749.
