2 p.m. & 6 p.m. — Nordic Film Series presents “Sirkka: Past and Present,” shown in honor of the 100th anniversary of women earning the right to vote, Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock. Call (906) 487-7506.

Monday, January 13

7 p.m. — Jouhikko workshop with Clare Zuraw, Finnish American Heritage Center. $15 per person.

Wednesday, January 15

6 p.m. — 5-string kantele workshop with Kay Seppala, Finnish American Heritage Center. $15 per person.

Thursday, January 16

6 p.m. — Sami People of Alaska exhibit opening, with remarks by exhibit curator Marlene Wisuri, Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock. Call (906) 487-7506.

Monday, January 20

6 p.m. — Läveri (Karelian reed instrument)making workshop with Alice Margerum, Finnish American Heritage Center. $25 per person. Class is about 2-1/2 hours.

6:30 p.m. — Birch bark ring making workshop with Alice Margerum, Finnish American Historical Archive, Hancock. $5 per person.

Saturday, January 25

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. — Tori Market, FAHC

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. — Vipukelkka (Whipsled), kicksleds, and plenty of outdoor fun! Quincy Green.

11 a.m. – Parade, downtown Hancock. Line up at La Cantina restaurant at 10:30 a.m. Prizes.

Following parade — Wife-carrying, kicksled races, whipsled, and more! Quincy Green. Prizes.

1 p.m. — Book talk with author Mark Munger, North Wind Books, Hancock.

p.m. — Polar Bear Dive, Hancock waterfront, details TBA.

3 p.m. — Reception for “Animal Life: Art from the Kalevala,” Community Arts Center, Hancock.

7 p.m. — Heikinpäivä iltamat (hors d’oeuvres, dance), Finnish American Heritage Center.

Sunday, January 26

2 p.m. — Finnish Hymn Sing and Concert, Zion Lutheran Church, Hancock. Open to the public.
