Songwriting workshop with Jonathan Rundman

$15 per person. All ages welcome.
Finnish-American folk musician and critically acclaimed composer Jonathan Rundman is artist-in-residence at Finlandia University’s 2018 Heikinpäivä Winter Festival.
Jonathan will address various issues regarding the craft of songwriting, and professional skill development of the composer.
Depending on the needs/interest of the group, topics can include:
creativity, composition, music theory, brainstorming, showbiz, marketing, touring, DIY
All levels of experience are welcome!
If you would like to share a song (or partial song idea) for critique, please bring a recording (CD and boombox, or ipod w/ speakers, etc.) of the song (home demo is fine!), OR bring an instrument so you can sing/play the song in person. ALSO, bring 15 copies of the lyric sheet. Jonathan will offer a constructive critique of your song.
Jonathan will also be available for Q&A.
Participants are encouraged to bring notebooks, staff paper, iPhones, iPads, etc.
Jonathan Rundman is a composer, performer, and recording artist based in Minneapolis. His songwriting has been acclaimed in The New York Times, Billboard, Performing Songwriter, and Paste Magazine, as well as countless regional publications and blogs. His music can be heard on radio stations across North America and in Europe, and has appeared on the BBC, the “Good Morning Finland (Huomenta Suomi) ” news program, television’s Ellen Degeneres Show, and licensed for airplay in 10,000 Starbucks Coffee locations worldwide.
Although he is primarily known as a folk/pop singer/songwriter, Rundman continues to explore other forms of music and creativity. In recent years he has produced a variety of sacred and choral music compositions now utilized by church musicians and choirs across the country. Rundman has engaged his Finnish heritage by touring the country with Nordic-folk duo KAIVAMA, and accompanying fiddler Arto Järvelä on tour in America and Finland, and has written instrumental tunes for fiddle, guitar, and harmonium.
Jonathan Rundman has facilitated songwriting, creativity, and instrumental workshops at music festivals and colleges in the USA and Canada and has served as a panelist for industry conventions and seminars.
