President’s Book Club

July 19, 2016 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 12:00pm on Tuesday, repeating until August 10, 2016

Finlandia University President Philip Johnson will be hosting a book club this summer. This summer’s book is by Susan Blum, “I Love Learning; I hate School: An Anthropology of College.”

The book is available now at North Wind Books with a 20 percent discount for all employees (total is $21). There is also a copy of the book available at Maki Library.

“I was attracted to this work because it considers carefully how humans actually learn,” Johnson said. “Our Plan 2021 makes commitments to holistic approaches to learning, engaging students in their entirety, and takes students seriously as human beings with heart, mind and body.”

The time, day and venue may be adjusted as needed, and it should go through July or as long as it seems meaningful and helpful. President Johnson is looking for a group of 6-10 people who may find this enjoyable. Anyone can participate.

Future details and additional reminders will be included in Campus News throughout the summer.
