Mobile Food Pantry

November 5 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST

On Thursday, November 5, Finlandia University will be hosting a Mobile Food Pantry in the parking lot between Old Main and the Chapel of St. Mattew. Organized through Feeding American West Michigan, mobile food pantries help fill the gap in hunger needs in a community, by supplementing the ongoing work of local pantries with much needed fresh produce, meat, and dairy. The truck coming here on November 5 will hold about 15,000 pounds of such items, and which has the potential to supply as many as 300 families. Our mobile pantry will be supported financially by Portage Health Foundation, but needs volunteers to make it happen.

Volunteers are needed from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to help organize food, register guests in their vehicles and carry groceries to cars. In addition, boxes are also needed to load groceries into. They can be dropped off at the Chapel basement anytime before Nov. 5. To volunteer, sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904094BACA92AA5FB6-mobile.
