Finnish & Nordic Studies Kalevalathon

February 28 9:00 am - 2:30 pm EST

Join students and faculty from Finlandia University’s Finnish & Nordic Studies Program in a 5.5-hour marathon reading of Kalevala, Finland’s national epic in celebration of Kalevala Day, also known as the Day of Finnish Culture. How many of the 50 runos can we get through? Will our voices fail? How many languages can we use to read Kalevala? Join us by popping in and reading a rune or just listening as we read the stories ourselves. If you are interested in reading a rune in a particular language other than English and Finnish, please contact Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen by February 21 and she will do her best to make this happen.
