Finnish Folk Music Workshop
September 26 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT
As they make their way home from FinnFest USA in Detroit, the members of Tallari will be in the Copper Country to teach the Finnish folk music skills they’ve mastered over their international careers. Tallari is an ensemble that has toured internationally for more than 30 years. Tallari was created and is supported by the Finnish government to promote Finnish folk music around the world, and has done so through many performances in the United States, including at several FinnFests.
Joining Tallari for this gig is well-known Finnish musician and entertainer Jimmy Träskelin; the group will lead a pair of workshops for musicians of all ages and skill levels; registration is only $10 per person per workshop. The first session will be Thursday, September 26 at 2 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center; the second workshop will be at 7 p.m. at the Chassell Heritage Center, followed by an informal jam session.
Tallari will remain in the area to perform a concert at the FAHC on Friday evening, September 27; tickets are only $12 per person. Come early to get your favorite seat – these guys are sure to pack the house!
