An event every week that begins at 4:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, repeating until October 23, 2019
Learn how to survive in the world after graduation and gain valuable insight from experts on a number of different topics. This semester, the 6-week program will be offered twice weekly at the Chapel of St. Matthew on Campus in order to accommodate more student schedules. Students are invited to drop in to a class at any point – no need to register.
Week 1(Sept 17 & 18): The JOb search – setting yourself up for success
In Week 1, students will learn how to develop a personal mission statement, receive tips on how to build a resume and learn about the importance of volunteering and networking to finding a dream job.
week 2 (Sept 24 & 25): the job search – landing the job
In Week 2, students will learn how to interview as well as how to negotiate higher salaries and better benefits. We’ll also touch on when and how to follow-up after the interview.
week 3 (Oct 1 & 2): money smarts – the basics
In Week 3, students will learn about credit scores and how to invest and build a budget.
Week 4 (oct 8 & 9): money SMarts – the big purchases
In Week 4, we’ll talk about how to buy the big ticket items like a house or renting an apartment, car and how different loans, including student loans, work.
week 5 (oct 15 & 16): staying healthy – physical health
In Week 5, students will learn how often they should go to different healthcare providers for checkups, what exercise looks like as an adult and how to meal plan.
week 6 (Oct 22 & 23): staying healthy – mental health
In our last class of Adulting 101, we’ll talk about how to understand your own mental health and when and how to ask for help.
