Free to use, but requires registration.
Library of Congress: Historic American Newspapers – Search select digitized newspapers published 1789-1949.
Heritage Quest – Subscription service (freely available on most university computers and public library workstations), contains Census Records.
The Finlander Forum – An online discussion board covering a wide range of Finnish history, culture, and genealogy topics.
Seeking Michigan – Impressive collection of death records and other Michigan documents.
Michigan Tech University Archives – Large collection of local history, including mining records and an online photograph collection.
Keweenaw National Historical Part Archive – Museum and archival collections that focus on telling the story of Michigan’s Copper Country, including mining records, photographs, and artifacts.

Institute of Migration emigrant register – Passport records and passenger lists for people who emigrated from Finland. FAHC has a subscription to the full search that allows the user to view the detailed information. Visit the FAHC Archive or contact them at archives@finlandia.edu for help.
HisKi Project – Searchable online database for Finnish church records hosted by the Genealogical Society of Finland. Find user instructions here.
Historismi.net – Resource to help decipher Finnish records. Includes translations of given names and other abbreviations used in church records.
Finland’s Family History Association – Scans of church and court records. No search function, but practical if you know which record you are looking for (time, location).
Northern Europe U.S. Army AMS Topographic Maps – Maps date from ca. 1940 and show Finnish homesteads.
