Tuition Initiatives

Finlandia’s tuition initiatives – Making college more approachable than a cold swim in Lake Superior

Rise Together Scholarship

The Rise Together Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that provides free full tuition when combined with federal and state scholarships and grants. The Rise Together Scholarship can be applied to the first two years of study at Finlandia. After the completion of 56 credit hours and/or an associates degree, students can easily transfer into a bachelor’s degree program and become eligible for the $10,000 Finnish Strong Scholarship, which can be renewed on an annual basis. Finlandia Four

Wish you could predict the cost of your four years at Finlandia? Now you can. Finlandia Four freezes the tuition rate at the time you are accepted for the length of your program.

For example, if tuition is $10,000/semester your freshman year, it will remain the same as you earn your degree (eight continuous semesters for a bachelor’s degree; four with an associate’s degree).

U.P. Commitment Scholarship

We love Yoopers, and as proof of that we’re proudly offering a $4,000 per year scholarship to all students who graduated from a Upper Peninsula high school!

Western Great Lakes Scholarship

We know the struggles families can face financially within our region, which is why we have created this need-based scholarship that can provide up to $4,000 per year for new students from Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Service Scholarship

If you make a difference in your community, we want you to come here and make a difference in our community. This $2,000 per year scholarship is open to students from outside of the U.P. who have performed community service.

As with any initiative, we understand that you probably have a question or two, or even several. Take a look at the frequently asked questions we’ve answered below, and if you don’t see what you are looking for we would be happy to answer your questions in person.

What is Finlandia Four?

Finlandia Four is our commitment to students at Finlandia University to help in identifying the cost of their education as they plan and anticipate attending and graduating from Finlandia.

Our Finlandia Four commitment means you are guaranteed the cost of tuition while our students are continuously enrolled for eight consecutive semesters (Fall & Spring) while obtaining a baccalaureate degree or four consecutive semesters while obtaining an associate degree.

What is the basic criteria of finlandia four?

  • Starting with your first semester (after Fall 2014), tuition stays the same for incoming students first enrolling to the University.
  • Students need to be continuously enrolled full time for both the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Finlandia Four is a tuition guarantee for up to four academic years for students seeking a four-year degree and up to two academic years for students seeking a two-year degree.
  • Applies to all: In-state, out-of state and international students.

Can I lose the Finlandia Four?

Yes. If a student leaves the university anytime during the course of their Finlandia Four plan, then choose to return to Finlandia, the student will enter the university at the current tuition rate offered to new students.

As a transfer student, can I receive Finlandia Four?

Yes! As you transfer your credits to Finlandia, an anticipated graduation date based on your program and transferred credits will be established. It will be for this period of time the tuition rate you come in at, will be what you pay through your expected graduation date.

What if I am less than full time student?

You will want to enroll full-time to experience the benefits of these initiatives.
