Applications Now Open for Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing 2019

Deadline is March 1

Nursing students heading into their junior or senior year with a GPA between 3.00 to 3.49 may be eligible for the Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing. Application deadline for the scholarship is Friday, March 1.

The amount of scholarships and money awarded will depend on the quantity and quality of applications. Students who want to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year, and will be given equal consideration with other [...]

Second Annual Healthy Hearts and Souls February 17 at Ripley

Finlanida University Wellness Committee invites you to the slopes February 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for some winter fun at the second annual Healthy Hearts and Souls event at Mont Ripley.

Leading the Pride is back with Part 2 of Clem Papineau’s story. In Part 1, Papineau discussed his career in the military and law enforcement and his current job as a Cold Case Homicide Detective with Little Rock, Arkansas Police. Papineau attended Suomi College in the mid-70’s but transferred after his first year; a choice he says he’s always regretted.

Finn-terns Meeri Kataja and Riina Rastas talk Heikinpäivä

Dropping by the Finlandia Fridays studios this chilly week are Finnish interns Meeri Kataja and Riina Rastas. Both Kataja and Rastas are working in the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC). The FAHC brings in Finnish interns throughout the year to bring in another aspect of Finnish culture to the university and the local area.

Kataja is from Espoo, the second largest city, located near Helsinki. Studying at the University of Helsinki Social Sciences, Kataja is assisting down in the archives [...]

Dr. William Knoblauch Publishes Book Chapter

Associate Professor of History Dr. William Knoblauch’s newest publication, “Selling Star Wars in American Mass Media,” is a featured chapter in the recently released Palgrave Collection entitled Media and the Cold War in the 1980s: Between Star Wars and Glasnost.

Knoblauch’s latest publication focuses on a media phenomenon of the cold war, the Strategic Defense Initiative, later coined Star Wars, and the feasibility of such a project during the 1980s.

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Fall 2018 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 129 students earned honors, including 85 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a Grade Point Average of 3.75 or above.
