Nick Tobey Selected as Ponsse Intern for 2019

Tobey is the fifth intern to be selected for Finlandia’s exclusive internship

Finlandia University is pleased to announce that Nick Tobey has been chosen as the 2019 Ponsse Eineri Vidgrén Foundation intern.

“I’m excited to work with such a well-known and respected company,” said Tobey. “I’m eager to build international connections and learn business practices from an international perspective.”

Students Invited to Try Cross Country Skiing on March 5

Students are invited to try cross country skiing for free on Tuesday, March 5 thanks to a partnership between Finlandia University, Cross Country Sports and the Swedetown Trails Club. This opportunity is free to all students with a bus leaving at 4:30 p.m. and expected to be back by 7:30.

The event includes a stop at Cross Country Sports in Calumet where every participant will get custom fit to a pair of boots and classic cross country skis. [...]

Going International with Director of Global Initiatives Cat Fuller

Finlandia Fridays crosses borders this week with Director of Global Initiatives Cat Fuller. Member of the FinnU family since September, Fuller describes her job as “dealing with everything international.” Fuller deals with international recruitment, study abroad, and assisting faculty members who want to run their own programs abroad or do research abroad.

Fuller’s first semester saw her overseas, visiting China, the Netherlands and Finland. In China, Fuller visited area high schools to recruit students and attended a fair in Beijing. [...]

Finlandia University is excited to announce the launch of a new alumni speaker series, A Taste of Success. The series will feature alumni of Finlandia and Suomi College as they talk about their college experience and accomplishments since graduating. FinnU to be Closed February 25, 2019 Due to Adverse Weather

Due to the severe winter weather situation we are experiencing, Finlandia University will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 25, 2019. Classes are cancelled and offices closed. Only those providing essential services to students will report.

Roads are currently snow covered with drifting and blowing snow. Travel only if extremely necessary.

Junior Emily Nguyen Discusses Ambassador Program

Emily Nguyen dropped by Finlandia Fridays this week to share her experiences as a student ambassador.

Nguyen is a junior studying criminal justice as FinnU. Hailing from Chino Hills, California, Nguyen stumbled upon FinnU when she was contacted to join the Finlandia Lions NCAA Division III softball team. With many successes within the past three years, the Lions look to continue the success setting their sights on a bid at the national tournament berth.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock is set to host the annual Soup and Salad Lunch as well as the silent auction fundraiser for this year’s Service and Learning in Tanzania experience for Finlandia University students.
