Graduation at Finlandia University

Cap & Gown Fitting is February 20-25 at North Wind Books

As the semester draws along, we’re inching ever closer to commencement 2017. To help graduates prepare for that, North Wind Books is hosting cap and gown fitting for December 2016, Spring 2017 and Summer 2017 graduates. Fitting will be Monday, February 20 through Saturday, February 25 during regular business hours (M-F 10-6, Sat. 10-4) at North Wind Books. There is NO CHARGE for graduation attire if fitted during this time period.

Dial Help providing on-site services to FinnU students and employees

Weekly on-campus availability on Monday afternoons

Students at Finlandia University seeking assistance through a traumatic event are now able to get that service right on Finlandia’s campus as Dial Help’s Sexual Assault Service Coordinator Peggy Sullivan will be on campus each Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. Sullivan can be found in Mannerheim 124, near the Registrar’s Office.

Did you know Finlandia snaps?

Finlandia University has been in heavy pursuit to grow its presence on Snapchat and is inviting you to be a part of it. Finlandia’s Snapchat (FinlandiaU) posts daily to inform its students and staff about upcoming events and other ways to be involved within the community. Recently the account visited a local tradition, a mid winter celebration known as Heikinpäivä.

Alumnus Jason Rice welcomed back as Professional Tutor

Finlandia University is excited to welcome back Jason Rice as a professional tutor. Rice is a former Finlandia student, attending 1998 through 2002. While attending the university, Rice received his Bachelor’s degree in rural human services with a concentration on liberal studies and a Bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with a concentration on literature and religion/philosophy. Rice has also work toward his MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Hawaii Pacific University.

Durocher named Senior Woman Administrator and Strength and Conditioning Center Coordinator

Finlandia University has named Bridget Durocher as the Senior Woman Administrator and Strength and Conditioning Center Coordinator. She has been working at her current positions since early January. Since August 3, 2016, Durocher has been the head coach for men’s and women’s cross country at Finlandia.

The Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) is an exciting study abroad opportunity for Finlandia students with programs in the summer, fall and spring semesters. A consortium between a number of collaborating universities across the U.S., CCSA allows students from smaller universities to experience faculty-led study abroad by sharing resources and connections between schools.
