GoFundMe campaign for Old Main renovations starts today!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is pleased to announce the initiation of a crowdfunding effort to help renovate the Old Main building’s roof. The fundraiser begins today, February 23, 2017, at gofundme.com/oldmain. The GoFundMe campaign will remain open until the end of May, at which point we hope to have reached our fundraising goal of $45,000, the cost of installing a new roof for the historic Old Main building.

Finlandia Success: Jordan Siegler ’09

February 2016’s Finlandia University alumni success story is focusing on Jordan Siegler – a graduate of Finlandia’s International School of Art & Design who is now working in corporate and community development for Wisconsin Public Television in Madison, Wisconsin. In this question-and-answer session he talks about how Finlandia University prepared him for his career, and about his involvement with the Finlandia Alumni Board.

Last week Finlandia students and employees got together for the second annual President’s Table Tennis Tournament, hosted by the university’s president, Philip Johnson. The winners included Jonathan Barnes, Tyler Kangas, Micha Health and Keith Jackson. Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed the event! Volunteers wanted for CopperDog 150

The CopperDog 150 is less than two weeks away, and the dogsled race in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula is seeking volunteers. The race is a perfect opportunity for teams and groups to get together, but there are also dozens of opportunities for individuals and families to participate. Finlandia is proud to be a sponsor of the event once again in 2017.

Alumna looking for assistance to print second volume of independent comic Spidersilk

Spidersilk Comic looking to print volume 2

Finlandia University alum Pamela Kotila is looking for support for her Kickstarter campaign to print “Spidersilk Comic Volume 2.” The campaign is looking to raise a total of $5,000 by March 9.

Finlandia introduces $4,000 U.P. Commitment Grant and frozen tuition for 2017-18

Efforts are first step of comprehensive redesign of financial aid practices

Finlandia University has introduced a new $4,000 grant for students who graduated from an Upper Peninsula high school, and announced it is maintaining current rates for tuition and room and board for the upcoming year.

On this installment of Finlandia Fridays Director of Student Financial Services Sandra Turnquist speaks all things financial aid. Turnquist outlines a two new financial aid opportunities to Finlandia students, the U.P. Commitment Grant and Service Scholarship. Finlandia University Director of Dining Services Mark Pittillo received the Customer Service Award during the fifth annual Keweenaw Sparkplug Award on Thursday night at Bonfire Steakhouse and Grill in Houghton.
