Servant Leadership House Trick or Treating for UNICEF

Mobile mentoring project kick off to be held Oct. 25

Finlandia University’s mobile mentoring project with Finnish app developer Mesensei will kick off with a workshop on Wednesday, October 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center. This event is free and open to the public. The workshop will provide insight on the different uses of mentorship in support of teaching, career services, alumni relations, and fundraising, based on case studies and experiences from Europe, Asia and Canada.

First Gathering for Fellowship of Christian Athletes is Sunday

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a new group on Finlandia’s campus and will be having their first meeting on Sunday, October 22 at 4 p.m. in the Shawn Wickersheim Memorial Student Lounge in the Paavo Nurmi Center. Students, coaches, staff and faculty are invited to stop by for food, fun and fellowship.

Dr. Virtanen to speak at symposium at Library of Congress

Finlandia University Assistant Professor of Finnish and Nordic Studies Dr. Hilary Virtanen is going to be one of three panelists Thursday at the Library of Congress for a symposium celebrating the history and future of the Finnish language.

Finlandia Fridays was visited this week by Denise Vandeville, Dean of the International School of Art and Design (ISAD), to discuss a new opportunity being offered to high school students called Studio Days. Finlandia University Gallery will present the work of Finnish visual artist Rita Jokiranta. Beyond Horizons will be on display at the Finlandia University Gallery, located in the Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock, from October 19 to December 1, 2017.

Dr. Jason Oyadomari, Dean of Suomi College of Arts & Sciences and Chair of Curriculum Committee, will be the host of the first Brown Bag Lunch and Learn of the 2017-18 academic year.
