Internationally respected Lutheran Bishop leading public event April 2 at Finlandia

Finlandia University will be welcoming Bishop Munib Younan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL) to the Copper Country on Monday, April 2.

Bisoph Younan will speak during a public presentation titled “An Interfaith Perspective: Christian-Jewish-Muslim Dialogue.” That event will begin at 7 p.m. on Finlandia University’s campus, likely in the Chapel of St. Matthew. Applications now open for 2018-19 Portage Health Foundation Scholarship

The annual Portage Health Foundation Scholarship opportunity for Finlandia University students studying healthcare and coming from Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga or Ontonagon counties is now accepting applications.

Rutkowski accepts Academic Career Coach position at Finlandia

Finlandia University has welcomed Marquette-native Sophie Rutkowski to the position of Academic/Career Coach in the TRIO Student Support Services office. Rutkowski has a Master’s Degree in Psychosocial Aspects of Sport and Physical Activity and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, both earned with nearly a perfect grade point average from Michigan State University.

Soon-to-be nursing graduate Alison Patchel visited Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about her experience at Finlandia, as well as her plans for the future. Patchel is originally from Marysville, a town in the Southeastern part of Michigan. 101 students recognized on Fall 2017 Dean’s and Honors List

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Fall 2017 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 101 students earned a recognition, including 60 who earned a spot on the Dean’s List for having a Grade Point Average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between [...]

Mobile Food Pantry coming to Ontonagon on April 19, 2018

Residents of Ontonagon County are invited to a Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, April 19 beginning at 4 at Ontonagon High School. The event is being put on by Finlandia University, Ontonagon Area School District, Feeding America West Michigan and the Western U.P. Food Bank.

The Mobile Pantry will contain a variety of foods, including fresh produce. Clients will not have to show identification or proof of income to receive food. They will be required to provide basic contact information and [...]

Fiber and Fashion Design Department hosting film on March 14

The Fiber Arts and Fashion Design Department at Finlandia University will be hosting its Film of the Month on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. with a showing of the musical Hair!

The event is free to all students, and will take place in the Jutila Center Chapel, which is located on the third floor. Students are invited to bring their own refreshments and to dress in their Bohemian best.

Deadline to apply for Westerman Scholarship for Nursing is March 19

Students in Finlandia University’s BSN Program are invited to apply for the Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing by noon on Monday, March 19.

This scholarship is awarded annually, and students may apply and renew the scholarship each year assuming they continue to meet the criteria. New applicants and those looking to renew are given equal consideration each year. The number and amount of scholarships awarded depend on the funds available.
