Introducing Dr. Patricia Grosse, Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Finlandia University is happy to welcome new philosophy professor Dr. Patricia Grosse to its family.

Grosse, who moved to Hancock from Philadelphia will be teaching Intro to Philosophy, Ethics, and Philosophy of Sex and Love this coming semester.

“I was excited when I saw the position at Finlandia because it’s a small school in a small town and it seems like the university is incredibly dedicated to educating their students,” said Grosse.

Briana Gorman makes move from Chicago startup to Finlandia University

Finlandia named Top 10 Best Institutes for Career in Sports and Athletics 2018

The Knowledge Review, an international education magazine for universities, students, teachers and parents, named Finlandia University one of the Top 10 Best Institutes for a Career in Sports and Athletics 2018.

Non-athlete careers in athletics can range anywhere from sports marketing and sales to physical therapists and trainers.

107 honored on Spring 2018 Dean’s and Honors List

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2018 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 107 students earned honors, including 66 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a Grade Point Average of 3.75 or above.

Alums make a case for a pre-law path

Finlandia University Gallery presents Libby VanderPloeg: Sharp Edges

Finlandia University Gallery will present the work of artist and illustrator Libby VanderPloeg. Sharp Edges, an exhibit featuring mixed-media paintings, animations and digital illustrations will be on display at the Finlandia University Gallery, located in the Finnish American Heritage Center from July 26 to September 6, 2018.

Alum Jaimianne Amicucci receives promotion

Jaimianne Amicucci (‘10) has been promoted to Director for the James Renwick Alliance.

Like most people who visit the copper country, Amicucci fell in love with the sea of trees and long winters during her time at Finlandia University.

“I was looking for three things when I was applying to colleges: great student to teacher ratio, a strong art department and traveling,” says Amicucci, who earned her BFA in ceramics. “Finlandia had the perfect balance of all three.”
