Lion Around podcast kicks off new school year

With the 2018-2019 school year starting today, Finlandia University has decided to roll out a new podcast called Lion Around, a student-hosted podcast that will find the hosts in different locations around campus for each episode.

Finlandia University is pleased to welcome new Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Ashok Khanal.

Laura Sieders promoted to Instructor of Accounting

Laura Sieders never planned on becoming a college instructor. The Calumet native moved to Washington D.C. shortly after graduating from Michigan Tech with her bachelor’s in business administration and a focus in accounting. Starting this fall, she’s a full-time faculty member at Finlandia University in the role of Instructor of Accounting.

Small class sizes provide valuable opportunities for students

When it comes to student-faculty ratio, the smaller the better. Fewer students per class means more individualized attention, feedback from professors, better networking opportunities, and it allows you connect with classmates and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

For Finlandia University students, the average classroom size was eight students during the 2017-18 academic year.

Finlandia increases security measures for residence hall

This summer Finlandia Hall got a much needed update. With the installation of a card reading system on the doors of Finn Hall, students will no longer be issued keys to the building; instead they will tap a newly issued card to grant them access to the resident hall.

Assistant Nursing Professor Ryan Bessolo earns MSN

Finlandia University assistant professor Ryan Bessolo, MSN-BSN-RN, always knew he wanted to advance his education in nursing.

Bessolo, a Calumet native and FinnU alumnus (’11), completed his Master’s of Science in Nursing from Western Governor’s University this year. With the new degree, Bessolo is promoted from instructor to assistant professor.

2018 Blue Line Club Golf Outing is Sept. 2

The Finlandia Blue Line Club Golf Outing is Sunday, September 2 at the Calumet Golf Club.

RSVP on Facebook (not required)

This annual event features a three-man scramble and is open to the public. Registration is $120 per three-person team or $40 per player. All proceeds help support the men’s varsity, men’s club, and women’s hockey programs at FinnU. There will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m.
