Physical Therapist Assistant Program Admission Requirements

Graduates of the Finlandia University Physical Therapist Assistant Program receive an associate in applied science degree. The program consists of a minimum of 33 credits in general education (gen. ed. core) and 40 credits in PTA education (technical phase). Incoming students with less than 24 earned college credits must take the 1 credit Finlandia Success Seminar. A student may be admitted into the program:

a) as a high school graduate
b) as a transfer or pre-PTA student in a University program

The number of graduates per year is limited to approximately sixteen to twenty-four students. The exact number to be admitted is determined each year by the PTA Program Director and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. The number of students admitted must be 24 or less and must ensure that there is at least a 125% clinical placement to student ratio. In addition, student to faculty ratio is also considered when determining number of students to admit.  Admissions decisions are made using a competitive admissions formula and applying early is preferable. Students applying for admission to the program will be considered without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, disability, or age.
