Thank you for taking time to visit the president's page as you take a look at Finlandia University. I believe our distinctives may offer the university experience you value.
Well over a century ago the university's Finnish-Lutheran founders were deeply committed to equipping men and women for life and work in a new context and changing world. This same commitment remains. Finlandia persists in developing new programs to better prepare our students for a world that is changing and challenging.
Finlandia is, as well, the only private, liberal arts-based university in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This means that Finlandia is able to offer, across the curriculum and in specific programs of study, content that invites students to prepare for employment and career within a larger framework of meaningfulness and purpose.
We offer a quality residential experience and the only NCAA Division III athletics program in the Upper Peninsula. Perhaps most importantly, Finlandia is a teaching institution where dedicated faculty re-invest scholarship in the classroom to enhance the learning experience of our students. At Finlandia we value doing small well. Finlandia may be the place for you.
I hope you will visit us in person. When you do, stop by my office. If I am in, my door will be open.
