When Gina Gelichi started as a student at Finlandia University three years ago, she wasn’t planning on majoring in Fiber and Fashion Design.
Gelichi, now a senior, grew up with a family of weavers, shoemakers and textile makers. Despite the history of weaving in her family, Gelichi began looking for English, Art and Finnish studies programs when she started her college hunt.
On May 5, 2018, International School of Art & Design Dean Denise Vandeville, Dean of Student Affairs Erin Barnett, and Chief Financial Officer Angela Price, led officials from the Beihai College of Art & Design in China on a tour of the Finlandia University campus. Levi Grannis and Hannah Scott-Moore dropped by Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about the annual Diploma Works Exhibition. Potential partnership between institutions being discussed
On November 10, 2017, President Dr. Philip Johnson, International School of Art & Design Dean Denise Vandeville, and Dr. Richard Gee, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, toured the studios and facilities of the Beihai Art and Design Institute, China. Finlandia Fridays was visited this week by Denise Vandeville, Dean of the International School of Art and Design (ISAD), to discuss a new opportunity being offered to high school students called Studio Days. Studio Days allows high school students to come in and “try out” the various art programs offered at Finlandia.
