Finlandia honors graduating Class of 2022

On Sunday, May 1, Finlandia University held its annual Spring Commencement Ceremony honoring 84 graduates in the Class of 2022. There was standing room only in the Hirvonen Hall Auditorium with more than 700 in attendance.

In his greeting, President Johnson opened with Finlandia’s Land Acknowledgment:

Alpha Lambda Delta Inducts 14 Students in Virtual Ceremony

On March 26, 2021, 14 new members were inducted into Finlandia’s Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) chapter. The ALD is a National Honor Society for First-Year Success and to become a member, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester. Finlandia Celebrates Class of 2021 with Hybrid In-Person Commencement Ceremony

Thursday, April 29, 2021 marked a historic day in the timeline of Finlandia University. For the first time in two years, students were able to feel the jubilation of walking across the stage on graduation day, diploma in hand. FinnU to Host #CrushCOVID Week

Finlandia University will be hosting #CrushCOVIDWeek on campus from April 5-9 in the hopes of getting more students, faculty, and staff signed up for COVID-19 vaccinations.

Alpha Lambda Delta Chapter Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

This year, Finlandia’s Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) chapter celebrates its fifth anniversary. The ALD is a National Honor Society for First-Year Success and to become a member, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester at Finlandia.

FinnU Receives $47,589 Grant for Campus Security Technology

Finlandia University has received $47,589 from the Michigan Department of State Police and Michigan’s Campus Sexual Assault Grant Program reimbursement grant initiative towards campus security geared toward sexual assault prevention technology upgrades. The University will use these funds to add a new camera security system as well as an RFID card access system and enhance campus LED lighting in Finlandia Hall.

Dana Pakulski, New Assistant Librarian at Maki Library

Finlandia University is excited to welcome back Dana Pakulski, a 2018 alum, who is one of two Assistant Librarians at Maki Library.  Pakulski received her Bachelor’s degree in English and plans to earn her Master’s degree in Library Services and Sciences.  

Prior to working at Maki Library, Pakulski, worked at the Hancock Public Library as a Library Assistant, where she shelved and processed books, organized storytimes and helped patrons. On-campus she will provide reference services to students, faculty, [...]

Nicholas Kwiek new Academic Career Coach at TRIO Student Support Services

Finlandia University is excited to welcome Nicholas Kwiek as the new TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) academic career coach. Kwiek earned his bachelor’s degree in History from Kenyon College and is working on his Masters of Education in Online Innovation and Design from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Frank Pergande new academic coordinator at TRIO Upward Bound

Finlandia University is excited to welcome Frank Pergande as the new the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) academic coordinator. Pergande earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and his Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Northern Michigan University. He previously taught English at NMU, overseas at Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea and the Marquette Prison through Jackson College.
