Scarpino to kick off Campus Read on March 15

Finlandia University’s Campus Read 2016 will begin on Tuesday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. with U.P. Poet Laureate Andrea Scarpino. This is the first of three Author Event Series events at the Chapel of St. Matthew on Finlandia’s campus. They are free and open to the public.

Scarpino is the author of the poetry collections What The Willow Said As It Fell (coming in March), Once, Then, and the chapbook The Grove Behind. She received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Ohio State University and a PhD in creative Writing from Bath Spa University (UK). She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has been published in numerous journals, including The Cincinnati Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, PANK and Prairie Schooner.

Scarpino is a faculty member with the Union Institute and the university’s Cohort PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies, and is a weekly contributor for the blog Planet of the Blind. Most notably Scarpino currently serves as Poet Laureate of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She lives in Marquette.
