U.P. Promise Grant
“I am extremely excited about this grant,” said Turnquist. This scholarship will go to incoming students who graduated from Upper Peninsula high schools. The U.P. Promise Grant requires the recipient have a GPA higher than 2.5, and is a total of $4,000 per year. What makes this award so special is that it isn’t a one-time ordeal. If the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA throughout their time at Finlandia University the grant will continue for up to four years. “We are the U.P. and we love the U.P., this is just one way we are able to show that,” Finlandia Fridays host Michael H. Babcock said.
Service Scholarship
This scholarship is an exciting opportunity that is being offered by Finlandia University that looks to reward those who go above and beyond with their volunteer work. Finlandia University is offering a $2,000 scholarship to students that makes an impact with their efforts. To apply for this scholarship, students must obtain a letter of recommendation from the organization or group they are involved with and submit it for review. This student must be apart of the incoming 2017 class and have at least a 2.5 GPA. The Service Scholarship can last up to four years as well if the student maintains volunteer work within Finlandia University.
Frozen Tuition
This upcoming year Finlandia University has frozen tuition and room and board prices. “This is not common, if you look statewide and I don’t think any other school in our state has done this,” said Babcock. The tuition price will stick with students through their entire time at Finlandia University because of Finlandia Four. Students will also be eligible for their eighth semester free because of Finlandia Future.
