New study abroad opportunity available for sociology, psychology and CJ students

September 11, 2017

Student exchange now in place with Sheffield Hallam University in United Kingdom

Finlandia University and Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom have entered into a student exchange partnership that will allow for study abroad opportunities for students majoring in sociology, psychology or criminal justice.

“Students will love this new opportunity in the United Kingdom,” Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Dr. Richard Gee said. “We’ve been talking about adding this for a couple of years, and we’re excited that we were finally able to get it through with our new partners.”

The study abroad opportunity is for students entering their junior or senior year, and will allow the students to take classes at SHU for one semester. Student tuition at FinnU will cover enrollment at Sheffield Hallam, meaning students will be responsible for travel, room and board.

“Courses at Sheffield Hallam will be open based upon each student’s interest and goals,” Dr. Gee said. “This will be a very personal experience for each student as I will help them get setup, and my counterpart Dr. Jen Sloan at SHU will welcome them to campus when they arrive.”

This opportunity is available beginning with the Spring 2018 semester for highly qualified students, and will be open to all Finlandia University students of junior or senior standing majoring in sociology, psychology or criminal justice during the Fall 2018 semester. If you’re interested, please contact Dr. Richard Gee at richard.gee@finlandia.edu or (906) 487-7280.
