Finlandia introduces new director of MA and MBC Programs
July 6, 2016Samantha Saint-Onge has been named Medical Assistant/Medical Billing and Coding Program Director in the College of Health Sciences at Finlandia University.
“This is a great opportunity for Sam to advance her leadership skills and continue the good work of Pam Borsum, our previous MA/MBC Director,” said Cam Williams, Dean of the College of Health Sciences. “We are confident she can lead the program, and look forward to her continued professional development.”
Small Classes Made Experience Worthwhile
Saint-Onge is a Finlandia University graduate herself, earning an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Assistant and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration.
“I valued the small class sizes Finlandia offers,” she said about her time in the MA program. “That allowed us to really get to know each other, and learn and grow in ways that would have been much more difficult with more students around.”
Houghton native looking forward to next step in career
“I’ve always had an interest in teaching,” Saint-Onge said. “I’m excited to take what I’ve learned in the field, and help train the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
Since graduating Saint-Onge has worked as a Clinical Medical Assistant at the Aspirus Houghton Clinic. She also spent time as a receptionist, mastectomy fitter and as a home health aide within the Aspirus system. She is currently completing coursework to become a certified coding specialist.
