Finlandia is proud to introduce Alyson DeLandsheer, one of the newest additions to the Finlandia University family. DeLandsheer takes a lead role at our university as the Coordinator of University Relations.

Alyson DeLandsheer Finlandia University“I love this community,” DeLandsheer expressed. “Being here makes me feel like I have another family. I am also excited to be working in a higher ed environment.”

DeLandsheer is originally from Ironwood, Michigan. After living in Colorado for many years, she and her husband came back to their roots in the Upper Peninsula to be closer to family.

In her role of Coordinator of University Relations she will be the primary contact for Human Resources. She is also the primary contact for anything related to the Jutila Center – a business incubator that was formerly a hospital located several blocks from main campus. Her office can be found in Room 319 of the Jutila Center. She has taken over the job formerly held by Liz Williams, who moved on to another opportunity in the Copper Country.

DeLandsheer prepared her education at Gogebic Community College where she got her associates degree in arts graphic design. She then furthered her education at Northern Michigan University where she got her bachelors in psychology.

DeLandsheer has many interests outside of work. She takes advantage of all the splendors that the Keweenaw Peninsula provides including downhill skiing and biking. On weekends she’s often found at Mount Bohemia, where her husband works as a lift mechanic.
