Music Program

The Music Department offers classes and ensembles open to the entire campus and community.

Finlandia's University Singers provides students an opportunity to balance their academic endeavors with the joy of singing.  This mixed choral ensemble performs a cappella and accompanied choral literature from the Renaissance to the contemporary era.  Singers may register for credit, or choose the option of joining in August or January without official registration for credit.  No audition is required.

Finlandia's Pep Band/Concert Band plays for athletic events throughout the seasons, transforming into Concert Band as they join with the University Singers in a concert each semester.  This ensemble is open without audition to all instrumentalists with prior experience.  As with University Singers, students may register for credit, or choose the option of joining in August or January without official registration for credit.

In addition to the performing ensembles, general music courses and courses in the music minor may include Music Fundamentals/Theory, Music Appreciation, individual or group piano, instrumental, and vocal instruction, and special directed studies.
