Business School Welcomes
Associate Professor Kevin Manninen
HANCOCK, MI -The Finlandia University International School
of Business (ISB) is pleased to welcome Kevin Manninen as an associate
professor of business. Manninen was a visiting professor of business at
Finlandia in the spring 2012 semester.
Courses he will teach include Principles of Management,
Project Management, International Business, and others. He is also working with
the student-run Finlandia University Experiential Learning (FUEL) Studio and
assisting with other ISB entrepreneurial studies.
"Students learn in different ways, and we should try to accommodate
each student's style to the best of our abilities," Manninen says. "Teaching
should motivate and inspire students to be the best that they can be, both as
experts in their respective fields and as citizens of their communities, nation
and world."
Manninen has a master's of business administration (MBA),
with a concentration in international business, from Eastern Michigan
University, and a bachelor of science in business administration from Michigan
Technological University.
In 2003, Manninen was awarded a Finnish professional teacher
certification from JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Jyväskylä, Finland. Manninen
lived in Jyväskylä from 1995 to 2010, where he worked as manager of business
development for Jyväskylä Innovation, Ltd., and as instructor, project
coordinator, and company trainer for the International Business program at JAMK
University of Applied Sciences.
Most recently, Manninen worked as a regional economic
coordinator for the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region,
Houghton.
Manninen lives in Atlantic Mine with his wife, Liisa, a
Finnish national. He is head of the marketing committee of the FinnFest USA
2013 board of directors.
