Nordic Film: Max Manus

HANCOCK, MI -The Sons of Norway (SON) Ulseth Lodge will present two screenings of the Norwegian film, "Max Manus: Man of War" this Thursday, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., at the Finlandia University Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock.

Both showings of the film are free and open to the public.

Following the 6:00 p.m. film, homemade Norwegian sweets and beverages will be served.

Members of the SON Ulseth Lodge will lead a discussion about the film and share information about the local Norwegian community.

Released in 2008, "Max Manus" is biographic war film based on the life of Norwegian resistance fighter Max Manus (1914-96). The story follows Manus from Finland's Winter War against the Soviet Union, through the outbreak of World War II and the German Nazi occupation of Norway, until peacetime in 1945.

The film is in the Norwegian language with English subtitles.

The Finnish American Heritage Center is located at 435 Quincy Street in downtown Hancock.
