Finlandia University Men's and Women's Hockey teams giving away FREE tickets to 2010-2011 home openers at the Houghton County Fair this weekend.

Hancock, MI. (August 25, 2010) - The Finlandia Lion Men's and Women's hockey teams will be giving away FREE tickets at the Houghton County Fair  this weekend to their  2010-2011 home openers. The men play an exhibition series against the Elliot Lake Bobcats of the Greater Metro Hockey League and the women play NCAA DIII foe Concordia-Moorhead.

The men's games will be played at 7:00pm on Saturday, October 16th and 2:00pm on Sunday, October 17th at the Houghton County Arena. The women play on Saturday, October 30th at 7:00pm and Sunday, October 31st at 2:00pm.

One ticket voucher will get fans into all four games FREE of charge.

Fans can pick up their FREE ticket voucher from the Finlandia University booth at the fair. Current student-athletes from both the Men's and Women's hockey teams will be greeting the community and holding a puck shooting gallery for children.

Heather Reinke announces 2010-2011 Finlandia Women's Hockey recruiting class

Hancock, MI. - August 19, 2010:  Finlandia University Women's Ice Hockey coach Heather Reinke has announced that 8 student-athletes have committed to the 2010-2011 women's hockey program.

The talented 8 player class joins 10 returning skaters in preparation for a challenging 25 game schedule including 20 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) conference games.

Finlandia will open the 2010-2011 campaign at home against Concordia-Moorhead on October 29-30, 2010 at the Houghton County Arena.

On July 17, 2010, Coach Reinke will be instructing high school players at the EXACT Hockey National College Development Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. This distinct college hockey camp allows players to showcase both mental readiness and on-ice skill. Coach Reinke, along with instructors from University of North Dakota, Mercyhurst College, University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, Bowdoin College, Colby College, College of St. Benedict, and USA Women's National U18 will conduct small group clinic activity, observe players in showcasing their development potential, and lead one-on-one review sessions with each player.
